“SHRIMPFEST - OUR 10TH YEAR”
DBC Culinary Institute
April 19th & 20th, 2008
Inlet Harbor Marina & Restaurant
Ponce Inlet ¾ Don’t miss Inlet Harbor’s “SHRIMPFEST - OUR 10TH YEAR” benefiting DBC Culinary Institute, on April 19TH & 20TH. This is our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY of this very popular event. This year’s event will be the best yet, with the DBC student cooking competition, five shrimp food stations, and great activities for the kids and all day entertainment.
On Saturday at “SHRIMPFEST - OUR 10TH YEAR”, students will serve visitors and sharpen up their presentation skills for the competition, and on Sunday evening, a panel of local celebrity judges will evaluate the competition. Student teams will be rated on their shrimp dishes, including presentation, taste and creativity. We’d like to thank our major sponsors this year that assisted with the Shrimp Fest: Brighthouse Networks and Hometown News. Inlet Harbor will make a donation to the DBC Culinary Institute, in the form of Scholarships, from the proceeds.
Jeff Conklin, director of the culinary program at Daytona Beach College (DBC), remarked that the culinary students really appreciate participating in this event and are excited about our 10th year of working together. At “SHRIMPFEST - OUR 10TH YEAR”, the students will again get to showcase their culinary skills and have fun at Inlet Harbor. DBC offers a 2-year Associates of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Management. These courses include sanitation & safety, culinary nutrition, international cuisine and many others. Upon graduation, numerous local restaurants, including Inlet Harbor and hotels have employed DBC graduates of the culinary program. For further information please contact Jeff Conklin, C.E.C., Program Manager at 386-506-3000 X3006.
Students and restaurant staff will be setting up five cooking stations around the property to prepare shrimp. Shrimp will be prepared the way you like it including Fried Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Peel and Eat Shrimp and many more recipes.
On top of all these great international shrimp dishes, patrons will be entertained with live music by one of Inlet Harbor’s most popular bands “Then2Now” on Saturday starting at 11am and by Caribbean Posse on Sunday from 11am – 6pm. Then2Now will rock into the evening on Saturday and Sunday evening Steve Hageman, Eddie Uzzle and Kenny Sphire will wrap everything up. While you are enjoying the festivities, make sure to visit the Pelican Landing Gift Shop for an original Shrimpfest T-shirt.
From 12:00pm to 6:00pm kids activities will take place including Hermit Crab Races, Limbo, Shrimp Toss and Face Painting. There will be additional public parking at the Ponce Center (pink building) at 55 Inlet Harbor Road, please follow the event parking signage. Complimentary trams will transport guests to and from the location. The event is from 11:00am to 6:00pm on both days and there is no cover charge. June
2001, Inlet Harbor was featured in "Southern Living", the
weekend section, here's what they had to say:
"Before sundown, claim a seat on the rambling
waterfront deck at Inlet Harbor
Marina &
Restaurant, a few blocks from the
lighthouse.
Order a colorful drink, sit back,
and take in the
best sunset view around. Talented
musicians
perform on a small stage,
and the menu
includes spiced shrimp, bacon
wrapped
oysters, grouper sandwiches,
and roasted
sea scallops."

Inlet
Harbor was featured in "Endless Vacation", a publication
of RCI, for July/August 2001. In the article "Grand Strands",
Steve
Blount said,
"For
a break from the crowds, head down the barrier island
to
Ponce Inlet, where a 19th century lighthouse (climb it for
terrific
views) towers over the small community. Waterfront restaurants
like the one at Inlet Harbor Restaurant and Marina serve up seafood,
burgers, and beer made all the more tasty by
the
salty air."

In
September of 2001 Inlet Harbor Marina & Restaurant was featured
on the Fox 35 show, "Good Morning Orlando".
Fox 35 came
out and produced live coverage on the show of over 15 minutes. The show hi-lighted the view, fishing, gift shop, entertainment and
of course, the restaurant and food. |
